client: Health First Foundation
Donors in Brevard County have always given generously to the Health First Foundation. Though well-attended galas help fund critical health system priorities, it was evident that the work of the Foundation is defined by so much more than a collection of successful fundraising events. Our challenge was to inspire Health First Foundation donors to engage in more meaningful relationships with the Foundation — to move donors from transactional to relational engagement.
First things First.
Understanding how to build greater engagement with Health First Foundation donors meant first understanding the health system. Health First is a local health insurance plan and not-for-profit network of physicians and hospitals — an integrated delivery network — that promotes good health rather than profiting from bad health.

Research told us the benefits of an integrated delivery network model are not readily apparent to many donor prospects. Furthermore, a universal challenge for integrated delivery networks and their philanthropic entities is helping donors understand why systems—perceived as well-funded, highly profitable entities—require donor support.
